INGRID SILVA’S MEMOIR
Ingrid Silva is the principal ballet dancer of The Dance Theatre of Harlem. She is from the favelas of Brazil and has been living in New York for over 15 years. Because of her talent and her story of constant improvement and resilience she has become an inspiration for many black children who dream of being a ballet dancer. She is also an activist for the women’s cause and has been fighting against racism in ballet for many years. She has spoken at the UN Social Good Summit, at Harvard University Latina Empowerment & Development Conference and has founded two organizations: EmpowHER and Blacks in Ballet. She wrote her first memoir in 2020.
